2026 Team Updates at Kelp Forest Foundation

Anne Janssens joins as new Director of Strategy and Partnerships, and Vincent Doumeizel as new Board member.

The Kelp Forest Foundation (KFF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Anne Janssens as Head of Strategy and Partnerships as well as Vincent Doumeizel as new board member. Vincent succeeds Tim Flannery, who was instrumental in the initiation of the Kelp Forest Foundation, and we want to take this opportunity to thank him for the inspiration, vision, time and knowledge that he’s poured into the foundation as well as many others who are working in this space.

Anne is an Applied Physics graduate from Delft University of Technology and also brings 15 years of entrepreneurial experience in sustainability transitions – from renewable energy with De Windcentrale, which enabled Dutch citizens to generate their own clean, affordable energy through shared ownership of wind turbines (“Winddelen”).

Anne also founded The Ketchup Club, where she worked with 110 restorative, small-scale Kenyan farmers and empowered them to locally dry their tomatoes and mangoes and turn them into delicious, handcrafted ketchups. This made sure that every crop was put to good use, while farmers and their communities gained a stable and fair income.

Vincent Doumeizel is Senior Adviser for Ocean at United Nations Global Compact. Following 20 years working in Food industry and then for Foundation, Vincent led in 2020 the “Seaweed Manifesto”  and in 2024 the plankton Manifesto in a call to advance science on low tropic ocean ecosystems to support addressing the triple planetary crises. In 2021, he founded the Global Seaweed Coalition which is now with 2 000 + members worldwide the voice of this promising industry. In 2023, Vincent released “The Seaweed Revolution”, now a reference book on seaweed, awarded best environmental book of the year and translated in many languages.

About Kelp Forest Foundation

We are a Netherlands based nonprofit advancing kelp restoration and regenerative kelp farming, through research, education and advocacy, enabling healthier, more resilient oceans.

Our oceans are under severe pressure from climate change, pollution, and over fishing. As a result, kelp forests are disappearing at alarming speed, with over 50% already lost. Their loss undermines marine ecosystems and the communities that depend on them. Kelp forest restoration and regeneratively grown kelp can be a powerful solution towards ocean recovery and a healthy planet.
